Kristal Klaar: Cello

The third concert in the series of the 6th edition of “Kristal Klaar” is dedicated to the Cello and will be conducted by Steven Caeyers. Chamber music for strings is an essential element in the work Franz Schubert. An early string quartet (D46), ‘Der Tod und das Mädchen’ (D 810) and the "Adagio" from the quintet with two cellos (D956) are three masterpieces by Schubert and a beautiful reflection of the romantic chamber music from the first half of the 19th century. Schubert’s chamber music was meant for his friends, not to be performed in public. It contains romantic elements and is lyrical with passionate expression. Schubert is to be considered the most important composer of songs and chamber music in musical history.
